What is the difference between MTP® and MPO?

MPO is the generic multi-fiber push-on connector interface defined by industry standards. MTP® is a registered connector brand from US Conec within the MPO format. The required interface, performance grade, gender, fiber count, and polarity should still be confirmed for each project rather than relying on the name alone.

When should I use a trunk or jumper instead of a hydra or harness assembly?

Use a standard jumper or trunk when both ends of the link require MTP® or MPO interfaces. Use a hydra or harness when one MTP® or MPO interface must break out to LC, SC, FC, ST, MU, E2000, or MT-RJ connectors for equipment-side or distribution connections.

How do I choose Type A, Type B, or Type C polarity?

Polarity must be selected for the complete channel, including the transceivers, cassettes, adapters, patch cords, and any existing cabling. Share the required channel method or link diagram with the RFQ when available so the connector orientation and fiber sequence can be reviewed before production.

Should the MTP® or MPO connector be male or female?

Male connectors have alignment pins and female connectors do not. A mated connection normally requires one pinned and one unpinned interface, but the correct choice depends on the equipment port, cassette, adapter, and the rest of the channel. Confirm the mating interface at each end before ordering.

Which cable parameters can be customized?

Available project options include MTP® or MPO, connector gender, polarity, fiber count and type, cable construction, jacket, cable color, total length, fan-out construction and length, installation protection, labeling, and packaging. Availability depends on the selected assembly structure and quantity.

What information is needed for an MTP® or MPO cable quotation?

Provide the assembly structure, connector interface and gender at each end, fiber count and type, polarity, cable and jacket type, total length, fan-out length where applicable, installation option, quantity, and destination country. A drawing or link diagram can also be included when the configuration is project-specific.
